Privacy Policy

Untangled Narrative Clarity ("the Service") is a thinking workspace operated by Untangled Narrative LLC ("we," "us") at clarity.untanglednarrative.com. This policy explains what information the Service collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Untangled Narrative LLC is a sole proprietorship based in Rome, Georgia, USA. For any privacy question or request, email jim.karwisch@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign up with email and password, we store your email address and a hashed password. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, Google account ID, and profile picture URL from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
• Profile information. A display name you choose, and any optional preferences you set inside the app.
• Content you create. Narratives, workbook responses, assessment answers, notes, and other text you enter while using the Service. This content is stored so you can return to it across sessions and devices.
• Usage state. Which tools you have opened, which steps you have completed, and similar progress markers used to power the "My Journey" view and to resume your work.
• Technical logs. Standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested URL) generated by the hosting provider for security and debugging. We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking pixels.

3. How we use information

• To create and maintain your account and authenticate you on return visits.
• To save and sync the content you create across your devices.
• To respond to support questions you send us.
• To diagnose errors and keep the Service running.

We do not sell your data, rent it, or share it with advertisers. We do not use your content to train machine-learning models.

4. Google sign-in

If you choose "Continue with Google," we request only the basic profile scopes Google calls openid, email, and profile. This gives the Service your email, name, profile picture, and a Google account identifier so we can recognize you on future sign-ins. We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or any other Google service. You can revoke our access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

5. Third-party services

The Service is built on a small number of third-party providers. Each handles data only as needed to run the feature it powers:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting. Your account, profile, and content are stored in a Supabase project we control. See Supabase's privacy policy.
• Google — when you use "Continue with Google," Google handles the sign-in step. See Google's privacy policy.
• Web host (cPanel/Apache) — serves the static files and PHP endpoints that make up the Service.
• Public CDNs — the Service loads libraries (Supabase JS, D3, mammoth.js, html2pdf) from public CDNs such as unpkg and jsDelivr. These providers may log standard request data (IP, user agent) when your browser fetches the libraries.

6. Where data is stored

Account and content data are stored on Supabase infrastructure in the United States. By using the Service from outside the United States, you consent to that transfer.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account and the content tied to it for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your account record and the content linked to it within 30 days, except where we are required to retain something to meet a legal obligation. Server logs are retained for a short rolling window (typically 30 days) by the hosting provider.

8. Your rights

You can:

• See, edit, or delete content you have created inside the app.
• Export your narratives from the app.
• Ask us to delete your account and associated data.
• Ask what information we hold about you.

9. Security

Connections to the Service use HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash by Supabase Auth. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data using the standard controls Supabase and our hosting provider make available.

10. Children

The Service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page and, for significant changes, surface a notice inside the app.
